Forgotten DC Monuments Continued

OK, we have started our Day-Cations again. We live within an hour of the beach, the Capital, and 4 other states, you would think we would have plenty to do. We decided to continue our forgotten monument tour with a couple we are sure no one has heard of. Take a look and standby next month we might just sit on the lap of Albert Einstein.

Look familiar? "I am king of the world." This is the Titanic Memorial placed by the women of the Titanic. I have pasted the quote at the end of this post. As you can see we were alone here at this forgotten monument to the bravery of the human spirit.

A wonderful morning as we walk past the Department of Transportation. This is the second forgotten monument, the Transportation Walk. It surrounds the building with many displays of transportation modes from over the years. It is quiet and again as you can see we were alone.

A very clean and nice fountain showing different types of sailing ships.

And nothing tops off a "day-cation" like Five Guys Burgers and Fries. So good even the President eats here. They cook to order, fresh cut fries and hand made hamburgers. Probably the most reasonable place to eat in the district.

It was a wonderful day, with lots to see and do. We dropped by the fish market on the waterfront, but my camera decided that was the time to stop working. We also visited the Jefferson Memorial, but the construction really takes away from the beauty of the area, but hey, we can't have Tom fall in the Tidal Basin can we?
